
ASSET Newsletter 3, October 2009 ASSET (ASsessing SEnsitiveness to Transport) is a European research project co funded by the Sixth Framework Programme for RTD (FP6) whose main aim is to develop the scientific and methodological capabilities to implement European policies aiming at balancing the protection of environmentally Sensitive Areas (SA) with the provision of an efficient transport system. The newsletter brings you the latest news and result from the EU co-funded ASSET project whose main aim is to develop the scientific and methodological capabilities to implement European policies aiming at balancing the protection of environmentally Sensitive Areas (SA) with the provision of an efficient transport system. The focus of the mapping work in ASSET is to analyse, demonstrate and visualise the spatial implication of impacts from transport activities in relationship to the distribution of sensitive areas. Hot-spots are highlighted as places where areas of high impact coincide with areas of high sensitivity.
